Firmware Version 2.00 for the Sony α9 Mark II (ILCE-9M2) camera provides several new features and useful improvements to existing functions.
The new firmware adds a “Hi Frequency Flicker” function that reduces the impact of flickering of artificial light sources (e.g. digital signage, electronic signboards, LED lights, etc.), by fine-tuning the shutter speed. (Note: at the time of the release, Imaging Edge Remote, Imaging Edge Mobile and Remote Camera Tool were not supported.)
It also improves the usability of Face/Eye Priority AF, enabling it to be activated or deactivated by pressing a custom key. Improvements to the Remote Camera Tool software mean the focus frame, including tracking AF, can be displayed for almost all scenes. (Note: this only applies to the latest version of the Remote Camera Tool software.)
FTP transfer can now be started earlier after shooting pictures and the camera’s MAC address can now be displayed as a QR code. Customised camera settings can be saved and loaded to My MENU and when the camera is turned off, the shutter will be closed to prevent dust particles and debris reaching the image sensor when changing lenses. There have also been improvements to the overall stability of the camera.
