The Turret Arch

Kevin Thornhill

The fin that Turret Arch is carving away is over 100 feet wide, but the arch itself is relatively young and small. There is a secondary, smaller arch directly to the right of the main arch, and maybe within a few hundred thousand years or so the two of them will join to create a larger arch.

Sunset behind a shallow beach depression that will soon become a rip channel.

Red algae

Norman Shapro

In March this year, our beaches succumbed to a red algal bloom that turned the waves blood red. I wanted to see what the algae looked like up close and personal.

A gaggle of gooseberries

Norman Shapro

Not quite ripe Cape Gooseberries. I like the way that the petals surround and hold the fruit without touching it (at least when they hang down from a vine).

Odd one out

Sunny But Frosty Tasmanian Apple Orchard

Andrew Corbett

Apples need two important things to grow into really healthy fruit – sunshine for photosynthesis (needed to make the fruit itself) and frost for staving off harmful bacteria (needed to protect the fruit). This photo captures the delightful harmony of both elements working to produce the world’s finest apples.

The Protagonist, And The Clown

Michael Yu

One’s own life is like a stage to everybody… And, every people has to perform on the stage of his/her own… Thus, everyone is the, and the only, protagonist on his/her own stage…and, simultaneously, the only clown as well.
