Once again we were favourably impressed by the high quality of the images submitted for consideration. If the task of winnowing the photographs down to the finalists was tough last year, it was at least as hard again this year.
WINNER: Ian and Yosi Our winner is ‘Ian and Yosi’ by Kim Hunter. The competition, as you can see, was strong, but this dual portrait has a slightly mysterious and intriguing air about it. We liked the direct and quiet gaze of the two subjects who, in a fascinating way, mirror each other. With their interlaced fingers, almost identical positions and matching shoes, they present us with both themselves as individuals and themselves in relationship to one another. Kim has won a a fantastic prize package valued at $2,000 from Lexar (www.lexar.com.au). Thank you once again to everyone who participated in this year’s Photo Review Portrait Prize. FINALISTS:
