Panasonic’s new ‘travel zoom’ compact camera features a Type 1 (13.2 x 8.8mm) BSI CMOS sensor and 15x optical zoom lens but, unlike previous models, completely lacks a viewfinder.

Seemingly targeted at ‘content creators’ the latest iteration of Panasonic’s popular ‘travel zoom’ cameras, has no viewfinder, which is likely to deter serious photographers accustomed to the previous models. The new camera’s Leica-branded (and certified) lens covers a zoom range equivalent to 24-360mm in 35mm format and can be focused on subjects as close as 3 cm. In-camera processing minimises noise in night scenes, while preserving natural brightness and fine detail and delivering images at approximately 20.1 megapixels. The TZ300 is equipped with POWER O.I.S. stabilisation, which effectively compensates for handshake at telephoto or in low-light environments. When filming while walking, 5axis HYBRID O.I.S.+ provides smooth, stable video. Video clips can be recorded at 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K resolution) and users can select Highspeed FHD 120fps recording for slow-motion capture.
Users can select from 22 creative filter effects and use the built-in flash to supplement ambient lighting. With Bluetooth® connectivity and Wi-Fi image transfer via the Panasonic Image App, sharing photos and videos from the ZS300 is fast and convenient. USB Type C charging provides added flexibility, allowing users to power the camera on the go using AC adapters, PCs, or portable power banks.
