Panasonic has announced a series of updates across its LUMIX ecosystem, adding new features to the LUMIX Lab and LUMIX Flow apps, plus firmware enhancements for 3 cameras and 6 lenses.

Version 2.0 of the LUMIX Lab App introduces a new feature, Magic LUT, which enables users to create and apply their own image style to images and videos. Users can upload a reference image and have the app transform any other chosen image to match the same colours, tones and overall mood. The results can be fine-tuned before saving for editing and shooting. Magic LUT supports JPEG, HEIF and MP4 files taken on not only Lumix cameras but also cameras and smartphones from other brands.

The LUMIX Flow App Ver 1.3 is now available on LUMIX S5II, S5IIX, and GH7. It provides the following features and enhancements:

  • Mirroring feature improvements and support for multiple devices. Up to 4 devices can be connected.
  • Vertical UI support for external monitors
  • Improved cut addition feature. A blank shot can be added as a sub-shot of a selected take or at the very end of the storyboard.
  • Support for LUT view assist – LUT live view is available in the app and can be toggled ON or OFF.
  • Support for multiple frame marker display. The same frame markers shown on the camera display on the app as Live View.
  • Improved AF frame display for various recognition targets in Automatic Detection.

Firmware version 3.4 for the S5II camera and Firmware version 2,4 for the S5IIX will add the following improvements:

  • Support for LUMIX Flow ver.1.3 or above;
  • Startup time improvements;
  • Bluetooth connection supported for DJI RS 4 Pro / RS 4 / RS 4 Mini. (These improvements will also be provided in f8irmware version 1.5 for the GH7 and firmware version 2.5 for the G9II.)
  • Enhanced customisation of the Focus Ring – The focus ring can be used as a control ring to assign key functions and the focus rotation direction can be selected either clockwise or counterclockwise. (This improvement will also be provided in firmware version 1.6 for the S9 camera.)

The following lenses will receive Version 2.0 Firmware: 18mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm f/1.8 and 100mm f/F2.8. The new firmware will allow the focus ring to be used as a control ring to assign key functions. In addition, the focus rotation direction can be selected in MF mode.
