Don’s response

Photographer Ross Kimber’s image of a sparkling day on Flinders Island really puts the depth in his depth-of-field.

The trick here is stopping right down to f/16 and nailing the hyperfocal point to maintain apparent sharpness from those delicate little flowers bottom right out to infinity.

My guess is that Ross set his focus manually, then fitted the 10-stop ND filter to achieve the long exposure he needed to obtain that smooth look to the sea.

The spiky bunch grasses in the foreground really amplify the tactility of the rocky setting and draw the viewer into the scene.
