Arthur’s Pass Waterfall

Don’s response

Sometimes the best picture of a photogenic locale is the one that doesn’t try to capture the entire scene but instead, as in this instance, frames a detail that is evocative of the whole.

Perhaps it’s the hazy, misty quality of the scene, but this picture is for me reminiscent of something from photography’s pictorialist era.

The composition works well enough, but I kept finding my eye being drawn to the bottom right where the patterns looked almost like a mysterious group of ghostly, cloaked figures.
