I found a position along the Yarra River where two overhead roadways converged, it was in evening twilight and it looked good and then a pedestrian came along to complete the picture. I only got two frames shot as I was in single shot drive mode but luckily one of them was the ideal alignment of the pedestrian with the Light pole.
Don’s response
This delightful decisive moment from the lens of Ian Semmens, could be titled “Homage to Jeffrey Smart 2025”.
Everything is in perfect balance, from the almost balletic position of the subject’s left foot, to the intersection of the graceful curves above, the central figure and the street light. The splash of light on the footpath, the velvety mauve tinged sky and the glowing phone in the walker’s hand… it’s quite magical.
