Imation’s Disc Stakka system combines a carousel that can hold up one hundred 12cm optical disks with a USB cable and database software. It identifies each new disk as it’s loaded and prompts the user to enter details they want to store about the disk. This makes it easy to locate any disk – or, indeed, any folder or file. Simply right-click on the OpdiTracker icon in the computer’s task bar and select Search. Several search options are provided: ‘title’, ‘keyword’, ‘directory’ or ‘file name’. Once the disk you want is located, clicking on Eject delivers the disk and OpdiTracker updates the database automatically to show which disk has been ejected. Overall, the Disc Stakka system is so efficient and easy to use you’re actually encouraged to archive your digital photos (and other files).
Photographers with more than 100 disks to store can stack up to five units one on another and access files and folders via OpdiTracker. The supplied standard version of OpdiTracker will suit users with one to three Disc Stakka units. An optional Pro upgrade (which is recommended for multiple Disc Stakka installations) has three additional Properties fields and greater disk management facilities.
