Kodak’s CX7530 combines ease of use with affordability and features, design and construction that equal or better most similarly priced cameras. The chunky plastic body has a 1.8-inch indoor/outdoor display and is equipped with 32MB of internal memory (which holds 17 high resolution images), plus an SD/MMC card slot. Movies with sound can be captured at 640 x 480 pixels at 13 frames per second or 320 x 240 pixels at 20fps. Clip lengths can be set to 5, 15 or 30 seconds, or you can record until the memory is full.
The test camera produced images with elevated contrast and saturation. Sharpening artefacts were visible in 100% enlargements and compression artefacts could be seen at higher magnifications. Low light shots were clean and noise-free. Video output was excellent and the white balance control delivered close-to-accurate colours with the manual pre-sets. We measured an average total capture lag of 0.8 seconds, which reduced to just under 0.2 seconds with pre-focusing. The burst mode captured five shots at 0.4 second intervals and it took just over 35 seconds to process and store a five-shot burst.
