January 8, 2008: The latest additions to Canon’s Standard Definition video camera line-up – the MD225 and DC310 – have just been announced.
Both models are designed for everyday users and offer advanced features, solid performance and comfortable compact designs. The Canon MD225 records to Mini DV tapes, while the Canon DC310 records to Dual Layer DVD, offering users the opportunity to select their preferred format. Both models a 41x Advanced Zoom Lens, Canon’s longest optical zoom on a video camera to date. Built-in image stabilisation technology is provided to minimise the risk of blurred footage. DiG!C DV II processing ensures high quality recordings with accurate colours.

Canon’s new DC310 (left) and MD225 (right) camcorders represent excellent value for family video photographers.
The Ultra-fast QuickStart setting powers-up the camera in less than 0.7 seconds, so users never miss a moment. This function also switches the camera to standby mode and automatically shuts off to preserve battery-life. The LCD Video Light is another feature made available for the first time in entry-level video cameras.
For novice users, the new camcorders include a range of shooting and scene modes, including an Easy mode for fully automatic recording. The new models feature a 2.7-inch widescreen LCD for playback and viewing, joystick navigation of menus and a large colour viewfinder. Recording in high-resolution Real Widescreen (16:9) means families can watch video movies on their widescreen TV. The MD225 comes with a microphone jack for added flexibility.
The Canon MD225 (estimated RRP $399.00) replaces the MD120 and will be available from late January 2008 and the Canon DC310 (estimated RRP $599.00) replacing the DC210 is available from March 2008 through Canon dealers nationally.
