Canon PowerShot Pro 1

In summary
Shots taken with the test camera in bright lighting had a wide dynamic range plus accurate colours. Pictures taken in normal lighting were clean, but noise was evident in low-light shots at ISO 200 and over. Coloured fringing was negligible in backlit shots. Shutter lag averaged 0.8 seconds when focusing was involved and 0.4 seconds with pre-focusing. . . [more]

Canon PowerShot Pro 1
Canon’s PowerShot Pro 1 sports a black magnesium alloy shell and a comprehensive suite of user-adjustable controls. It’s the first non-interchangeable lens model with L-series optics and the zoom is controlled via the lens ring and an ultrasonic motor that is quiet and ‘fine-tunable’. The Pro 1 is noteworthy for its Adobe RGB colour space setting and a dial-in neutral density filter that attenuates the strength of the light reaching the sensor by the equivalent of three stops. This useful adjustment can be applied when you want to set a larger aperture value and/or a slower shutter speed than conditions demand. Like other cameras in this class, the Pro 1 is fitted with a bright electronic viewfinder (EVF) with adequate resolution and refresh rate. Other features include a vari-angle monitor and intervalometer for time-lapse photography.
