Designed primarily to hold a video camera, the new Lowepro Clips 120 bag can also accommodate a long-zoom digicam or small DSLR camera with one lens attached. The main compartment of the bag opens outwards via a pivoting flap, which provides fast and easy access to the camera. It contains two sections: a large rectangular pouch for the camera and, behind it, a slot that can be used for carrying instruction manuals, disks or other small, flat items. A reversed zipper closure prevents dust from entering but can be a bit fiddly to close.
Neither compartment is generously padded but tricot lining throughout the main compartment provides some protection for the camera against impact shock, although the slot-like section is unlined. An adjustable padded divider allows photographers with small cameras to customise the main compartment and allows additional equipment to be carried without it coming in contact with the camera.
The pivoting flap had an accessory pouch, which opens via a zip. Inside it are a mesh pocket and tricot-lined pocket with Velcro closure, which can accommodate filters, memory cards, cables and video tapes or disks. The shoulder strap attaches to the short ends of the bag via clips that swivel through 360 degrees.
Below each attachment are additional pockets with Velcro closures that can hold small accessory items. A padded handle on the top of the bag provides an alternative way to carry it without adding much to the overall weight. The outer layer of the bag is clad in ripstop, water-resistant fabric.
Although not suitable for situations where impact damage is possible, this bag’s compact size and light weight make it a good choice for camcorder and digicam owners who travel sedately and only take a few accessories. It would also suit owners of small DSLR cameras who only want to take one lens plus a couple of cards and a filter. It is available in Arctic Blue of Black.
