The new lens has been completely redesigned and represents the fourth model in the Milvus series with an f/1.4 maximum aperture. Its optical design comprises 15 elements in 13 groups and includes seven elements made from special low dispersion glass plus two aspherical elements. In addition to the Zeiss T* anti-reflectivecoating, all lens edges are protected with a special pitch-black lacquer in a complex manual process. Designed for manual focusing, the lens includes a rubber focusing ring and clear focus markings with laser-engraved focusing and depth of field scales and the hard stops at the infinity and minimum focus positions. The minimum focus distance is 25.2 centimeters. The Canon and Nikon mount versions have slightly different dimensions and weights. The Canon version has a diameter of 95.2 millimeters and is 122.5 millimeters long with a weight of 1,220 grams. The Nikon version has the same diameter but is 123.3 millimeters long and weighs 1,170 grams). Both versions are priced at US$2,399.
