September 25, 2009: X-Rite has released details of a new ColorChecker Passport that provides a colour reference for photographers on location.
Combining three photographic targets in one pocket-sized protective case, the ColorChecker Passport comes with camera calibration software that enables photographers to utilise colour information when editing images. It includes both a desktop application and an Adobe Lightroom Plug-In for creating custom DNG profiles.
The White Balance Target allows photographers to create custom in-camera white balance settings for different shooting sessions, eliminating the need to correct images individually. The Enhancement Target allows users to refine the colour of images selectively and subtly. Colour balance can be matched to different shooting situations, adding a little warmth to skin tones or boosting greens and blues in landscapes.
The Classic Target is used to establish colour profiles and maintain consistent colour reproduction from image to image and camera to camera, regardless of when images are captured. It provides a built-in point of colour reference that is compatible with Adobe DNG Editor and works with the full range of Adobe’s image editors and workspace managers (Lightroom, Photoshop, Photoshop Elements and ACR).
The ColorChecker Passport will be distributed locally by DES Pty Ltd and is priced at $168 plus GST. For more information, visit www.des-pl.com.au or phone Sanjoy Banerjee on 1300 725 934.
