December 13, 2005: 3 mobile has launched a new mobile device that can be used to remotely view a situation using a mobile phone.
EyeCam is a standalone digital camera unit weighing just 250 grams that can be set up in the corner of a room and used to keep an eye on your home while you’re out. The device is equally useful for checking security when you’re at work or on holidays, supervising pets or checking your babysitter has everything under control. A ‘first’ for 3 mobile, EyeCam has been developed for 3G networks, which deliver high-quality, media-rich content to a mobile phone. Subscribers can send and receive multimedia content and view and listen to video clips anywhere within the 3 Broadband Zone.
Up to 20 people can access each EyeCam unit, although only one call can be accepted at a time. The unit indicates when it is receiving a call. Batteries last for approximately four hours for day use or 3.2 hours for night use. The EyeCam service is available when the EyeCam unit and caller are in 3’s Broadband Zones – available in most parts of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra and the Gold Coast. Subscribers can also access other Australian cellphone networks for Talk, SMS, MMS and Email services.

EyeCam units are available only from 3 Shops and sell for $249. For details of store locations, visit www.three.com.au.
