Canon will bring renowned photographer, Vincent Laforet, to Australia for a series of seminars and workshops in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in September.
Laforet, who has won a Pulitzer Prize for photography and is a three-time winner at the prestigious 2010 Cannes Lion International Advertising Festival was named among the “100 Most Influential People in Photography” by American Photo in 2005. In 2008, Laforet directed Reverie, the first 1080p video shot with a DSLR camera, which was seen more than two million times in the first week of its release. Shot with the acclaimed Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera, the short film has been heralded as one of the films that launched the HD DSLR movement. Also considered a pioneer in both tilt-shift and aerial photography, Laforet’s work has featured in National Geographic, Vanity Fair, Time, Newsweek, The New York Times Magazine, CNN, and Good Morning America among others.
Vincent Laforet will be in Australia from 2 to 14 September and will be conducting a series of seminars as well as hands-on motion imaging workshops. In the 90-minute seminars, he will showcase work that illustrates his journey from stills to motion, and explore the impact of technology, the internet and social media on visual imaging. In the 6-hour workshops, Laforet will cover ways to get more from your DSLR HD motion shoots. Topics covered include business opportunities, terminologies, cameras, lenses and rigs, setting up a crew, shooting angles, focusing challenges and tips for better audio. Attendees will also learn about a variety of cinematic techniques that are common in all films, plus the tools and rules for filmmaking so they can craft the most important part of any film ““ the story.
