March 23, 2007: Celebrated wedding and portrait photographer and photographic educator, Monte Zucker, has died on 15 March at the age of 78.
Widely esteemed as a professional photographer and teacher, Zucker worked mainly in the USA but his techniques have been copied by photographers all round the world. He was honoured as the United Nations Professional Photographer of the Year in 2002. During his 50-year career he was also renowned as an innovator, pioneering classic portraiture techniques on location at weddings and producing idealised versions of real life that clients treasured.
Monte Zucker’s name and legacy will live on in a charitable organisation, the Zucker Institute for Photographic Inspiration, which was launched by Zucker to help at-risk youth to become involved with photography as a way of directing their energies towards a hobby that could advance them into a career.
