April 30, 2010: The Australian Museum is calling for entries to the annual Up Close & Spineless photographic competition.
Now in its ninth year, this popular competition encourages Australian photographers to discover the magnificent world of ø¢â‚¬Ëœinvertebrates’ – animals without a backbone. The 2009 Up Close & Spineless exhibition showcased 30 outstanding photographic insights into wildlife and included pictures taken at the beach, in the bush and in the backyard.

Entrants to this year’s contest have the chance to be selected for the Up Close & Spineless photographic exhibition on display at the Australian Museum in October along with a $600 voucher to spend on photographic supplies.

Judging is based on a range of criteria including interesting animal behavior, unusual or rare species along with technical skills. There are four competition categories: professional, open, primary school and secondary school. Full terms and conditions for the Up Close & Spineless competition and entry forms can be found online at www.australianmuseum.net.au/UpClose/.
