December 13, 2011: Details have just been released of the TriggerTrap universal camera trigger, which is scheduled for release in the USA in February, 2012.
This battery-operated, pocket-sized device can control hundreds of different cameras via wired or IR trigger systems. Five built-in trigger modes are provided, including firing the flash or shutter release in response to light or sound input. It can also be set to trigger camera shutters in response to laser or auxiliary input and includes a time-lapse mode. The device has also been built to allow hacking so savvy users can program their own triggering modes.
The TriggerTrap will be offered in the USA in two versions: the full model for US$125 and a DIYShield version for US$75. You can read all about it at http://www.gizmag.com/triggertrap-camera-trigger/20813/. We’re hoping an astute local distributor will pick up this exciting – and potentially useful – new product when it becomes available.
