June 9, 2005: Local Nikon distributor, Maxwell Optical Industries, has released a new range of Fantasea Line underwater housings for several popular Nikon digital still cameras.
The Fantasea FD-70 is a compact, lightweight, injection-moulded polycarbonate housing for the Nikon D-70 digital SLR. Rated to a depth of 60 metres, it can also be used to protect the camera against damage from rain, snow, dust, sand and dirt. Ergonomically designed handles make it easy to hold and use and an interchangeable port system accommodates a wide variety of SLR lenses. Key camera controls are easily accessed and the housing has a standard five-pin connector for underwater flash units. The suggested retail price of the FD-70 including standard port for an 18-70mm zoom lens is $1699.

Two new housings are available for Nikon’s compact digicams. The Fantasea CP-6 is designed for the Coolpix 4600/5600 and the Fantasea CP-7 for the Coolpix 5900/7900 models. Both housings are rated to a maximum working depth of 40m/130 ft underwater and offer push-button access to the cameras’ most important controls and features. The suggested retail price of both the CP-6 and CP-7 housings is $349. This includes a pre-paid flood insurance policy for one year, which covers both the housing and the camera in the event of water leakage.
