Snorkellers and scuba divers can now take still photographs and record video clips as they swim with a new series of camera-equipped masks from Liquid Image.

 

October 13, 2010: Snorkellers and scuba divers can now take still photographs and record video clips as they swim with a new series of camera-equipped masks from Liquid Image.
Three masks are currently available in the Underwater Range. The Explorer Series 302 (RRP$199) can be used to a depth of five metres and is designed for shallow snorkelling and swimming or playing in the pool. It features a 5-megapixel still camera and can record VGA video clips at 20 frames/second. This mask comes in bright yellow for high visibility and is powered by two AAA batteries.

The VideoMask 310 (RRP $299) can be used to a depth of 20 metres and records 5-megapixel stills. It will also capture 720 x 480-pixel video clips at 30 frames/second. Ideal for snorkeling and shallow scuba diving, this mask can also be used for free diving and shark cage diving. This mask is offered in black with a red highlight around the lenses and is powered by two AAA batteries.

The Scuba Series HD320 (RRP $399) is the top-of-the-range model. Designed for serious scuba diving it can be used to a depth of 40 metres and has an integrated, water-resistant High Definition (720p) digital video camera that can also record 5MP photographs. This mask also records sound and has a ‘straight to TV’ playback option. It comes in blue and is powered by four AAA batteries.

The lenses in all three masks are made from tempered glass and have integrated crosshairs for composing shots. The built-in 16MB memory can store approximately 27 pictures or 40 seconds of video. A microSD/SDHC card slot is provided for expanding capacity to 16GB. Both the VideoMask 310 and the Scuba Serise HD 320 have attachments for optional lights.
