Nikon has released details of two new lenses designed for the company’s FX format cameras.

The AF-S Nikkor 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED is a compact and lightweight Nikon ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that is compatible with the FX format and covers a popular range of focal lengths. It features a Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for quiet autofocusing, as well as two focus modes””autofocus with manual override (M/A) and manual focus (M). A compact body design and weight of just 385 grams makes the lens highly portable. A new optical design enables photographers to makes the most of digital-SLR cameras with extremely high pixel count, such as the D600.

The AF-S Nikkor 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR is a fast, high-power telephoto prime lens that is ideal for sports and wildlife photography. Offering the longest focal length of Nikkor autofocus (AF) lenses, it comes with the AF-S Teleconverter TC800-1.25E E, which allows the focal length to be increased to 1000mm. The lens design includes two fluorite and two ED lens elements plus Nano Crystal Coatings to minimise flare and ghosting. Built in vibration reduction (VR) provides an increase in stability equivalent to four f-stops. When the teleconverter is used with this super-telephoto lens, the electromagnetic aperture built into the lens enables stable exposure control with high-speed continuous shooting.
