The PowerShot SX120 IS replaces the PowerShot SX110 IS and combines a 10x optical zoom lens (36-360mm in 35mm format) with Optical Image Stabiliser with a 10-megapixel CCD sensor and 3-inch, 230,000-dot LCD monitor. No viewfinder is provided. Users can adjust the settings of the SX120 IS to suit their skill level, choosing from point-and-shoot simplicity with Canon’s Easy Mode and Intelligent Auto right up to full manual control. Video clips can be recorded with VGA or QVGA resolution at 30 frames/second.

Both models come with Canon’s DiG!C 4 image processor and TruCapture technologies, which include Optical Image Stabiliser and Intelligent Auto Technology. The latter combines Scene Detection, Advanced Face Detection, Motion Detection and Noise Reduction technologies into one automatic mode, automatically detecting people, distance, brightness, colour and even movement information. This data is used to select the type of scene from 22 presets, including Portrait, Night, Macro, Backlit and Sunset options. It then carries out the optimum image processing for that scene.
Both models are due for release next month. RRPs have still to be determined. For more information, phone Canon on 1800 021 167 or visit www.canon.com.au.
