April 11, 2007: Samsung has added two new models to its high-end NV series of slimline digicams, the NV3 and the NV11.
The NV11 (RRP $699) has a 10-megapixel 7.18 x 5.32 mm CCD imager and sports a 5x optical zoom lens from Schneider-Kreuznach, which covers a zoom range equivalent to 38-190mm on a 35mm camera. Maximum apertures range from f/2.8 to f/4.4 and the normal focusing range is from 80 cm to infinity, with macro shooting from 10-80 cm and Super macro between 1 and 10 cm. Shutter speeds range from 15 seconds to 1/2000 second.

The NV11 also features Samsung’s Smart Touch user interface and has a 2.7-inch, high-definition LCD monitor. Other features include Samsung’s proprietary ASR image stabilisation and face recognition technologies plus the ability to record MPEG-4 VGA video clips at 30 frames/second. In-camera editing functions include Trim, Resize, Rotate, Colour Effect, GIF Animation and Red-eye Fix. The NV11 weighs less than 200 grams and is supplied with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and charger.
The 7.2-megapixel NV3 (RRP $499) is a convergence device that combines a camera with an MP3 player and Portable Multimedia device. Featuring a super-slim design, its body is only 17.5mm thick. The Samsung 3x optical zoom lens is located high on the front panel behind a built-in cover and a slim built-in flash is provided. Body weight is 142 grams, without battery and SD card.

Features include Samsung’s proprietary ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction) system, a high-resolution 2.5-inch LCD screen and support for MPEG-4 TVD (720×480 pixels) video at 20fps plus VGA (640×480 pixels) at 30fps. AGC (Auto Gain Control) recording technology ensures high-quality video recording and noise minimisation enables users to operate the optical zoom lens while shooting video clips.
The built-in MP3 player has a special audio processing chip delivering 3D, Jazz, Rock, and other sound effects, while the NV3 can be can be connected to an external speaker for realistic movie sounds. The NV3 also comes with a voice recorder and a Sound clip function that can record voice during 10-second self-timer shooting mode and a text viewer for reading text on the LCD, allowing the camera to be used as an e-book.
