Made from aluminium alloy, the HD Pentax DA 20-40mm f/2.8-4 ED Limited DC WR encompasses a focal length equivalent to 30.5-61.5mm on a 35mm sensor and has maximum apertures ranging from f/2.8-f4.
This lens is the first Limited Lens-series model to feature a weather-resistant construction, with seven special seals to prevent the intrusion of dust and moisture. It also features Pentax’s current High Definition Coating for protection against flare and ghosting.
Super Protect coating on the front lens element provides effective protection against dirt and finger-marks.
The optical design comprises 9 elements in 8 groups, with Extra low-dispersion ED lens elements to ensure superior sharpness and saturated colours. A nine-bladed iris diaphragm closes to a circular aperture for superior bokeh with smooth out-of-focus highlights.
The lens-installed AF driving motor provides smooth and quiet AF operation and enables close focusing to within 28 cm of subjects. The minimum aperture is f/32. The new lens measures roughly 71mm x 68.5mm (diameter x length), weighs.283 grams and accepts 55 mm filters. It will be offered in black or silver colours.

The new 08 Wide Zoom lens complements the 02 Standard zoom’s 27.5- 83mm 35mm-equivalent focal range covering the equivalent of 17.5-27mm on the Q7 or 21-32.5mm on the Q and Q10 bodies.
Super-compact and ultra-lightweight in design, it includes 10 elements in 8 groups, with 2 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements and one super-low-dispersion glass element to minimise common aberrations.
Inner-focusing ensures high-speed, low-noise AF operation and a Quick-Shift Focus mechanism allows instant switching to manual-focus operation after the subject is captured by the camera’s AF system.
A built-in lens shutter mechanism is equipped with an ND (neutral density) filter and an iris diaphragm.
This lens measures 54mm x 38mm and weighs just 75 grams.
Both lenses are due to begin shipping next month. Local prices have still to be determined.
