Canon has announced two new lenses: the EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM (for full frame SLRs); and the entry-level EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM.
The EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM is Canon’s first full size wide angle zoom lens with a built in Image Stabilizer. It features a dust-proof, drip-proof construction, an ultrasonic motor for fast and silent AF. It’s designed for full-frame cameras.
The EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM is a wide angle zoom for entry-level DSLR users.
It features image stabilisation ‘and built in STM’. Canon is targetting the lens at entry level landscape photographers.
Pricing and release dates are not supplied in the press materials, however overseas reports indicate the two lenses may be available in some markets in June. US pricing is US$1199 for the L series 16-35mm lens, and US$299 for the entry-level 10-18mm.
