Two New Epson Printers

November 6, 2006: Epson has released two new inkjet printers, the Stylus Photo R390 for photo enthusiasts and the Stylus Photo RX590 “More-in-One” for the small office or home environment.
Both models have been designed for use with Epson’s Ultra High Definition Claria Photographic ink and feature individually-replaceable Epson Intellidge ink cartridges. Both printers come with driver software that includes Epson PhotoEnhance, which automatically adjusts images to deliver optimum results. PhotoEnhance analyses images and corrects common problems encountered by amateur photographers, such as shadowed faces, backlit images and dull colouring. Users can view, edit and print photos without the need to connect to a PC. Bundled software includes the Epson Creativity Suite with applications such as Epson Easy Photo, Epson Web-to-Page Print and Epson Print CD/DVD.

The Stylus Photo RX590 (RRP $399) combines printing, copying and scanning capabilities and offers direct-to-surface CD and DVD printing. The scanner’s resolution is 1200 x 2400 dpi and copying is supported at 30 copies per minute (cpm) in either colour or mono. Easy Photo Fix allows the Stylus Photo RX590 scanner to restore faded photos in stand alone mode. A 2.5-inch LCD colour preview screen is provided and both models include a multi-format memory card reader that accepts popular memory cards such as xD, CompactFlash (CF) Type II, and Memory Stick. USB Direct Print, PictBridge and optional Bluetooth are also supported and both models also feature infrared connectivity.
The Stylus Photo R390 (RRP $299) is a single-purpose printer with a resolution of up to 5760 Optimised dpi and Epson’s Variable Size Dot Technology (VSDT).
