March 1, 2006: Local Pentax distributor, C. R. Kennedy & Company, has announced the availability of three new 6-megapixel Pentax Optio cameras, the Optio M10, T10 and W10.
Designed for general photography, the Option M10 features a 3x optical zoom lens (35-105mm in 35mm format) plus reliable, long-life AA battery performance. A large (2.5-inch) colour LCD and simple, user-friendly operation make the M10 a great camera for many different users. The convenient Green Mode, which automatically sets all parameters – including exposure, ISO and white balance – to optimum levels, allows first-time users to take pictures with minimal effort. The shooting mode palette displays 15 easy-to-understand mode icons, while the playback mode palette offers eight. The user simply selects the desired icon on the screen. The Optio T10 is distinguished by an extra-large 3.0 inch, high-definition LCD monitor plus a touch-display control system that allows users to program the camera by tapping icons on the panel.
An innovative My Drawing mode allows users to customise images directly on the screen. The camera’s body is a slim 19.5mm thick and the Pentax Sliding Lens System together with a high-density mounting technology has enabled designers to make it fully pocketable.
Other features include continuous and tracking AF capabilities, 25 shooting modes and 15 playback modes and a green “guide” button that calls up explanations of the selected mode setting on the LCD. The Optio W10 supports high-sensitivity shooting at ISO 800 and comes with built-in Face Recognition software that automatically adjusts focus and exposure for people’s faces. RRP for this model is $499.
