Nikon has announced the impending release of three new lenses, the AF-S Nikkor DX 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR, AF-S Nikkor 500 mm f/4E FL ED VR and AF-S Nikkor 600 mm f/4E FL ED VR.

Claimed as the world’s lightest 16-80mm DX-format lens, the new lens features Nikon’s Nano Crystal Coat and includes aspherical and Extra-low Dispersion (ED) lens elements as well as a fluorine coating applied to the outer surfaces of the front and rear lens elements to repel dust, water droplets, grease or dirt. The built-in Vibration Reduction (VR) system provides up to four f-stops of shutter speed advantage. the lens also features the first adoption of an electromagnetic aperture mechanism for resolute auto-exposure control in a DX-format lens. Also claiming to be the lightest of their type, the new AF-S Nikkor 500 mm f/4E FL ED VR and AF-S Nikkor 600 mm f/4E FL ED VR lenses are designed for FX Nikon cameras with ‘full frame’ sensors and engineered to meet the demands of professional photographers. Weighing just 3090g (500mm) and 3810g (600mm) both lenses are designed for high optical precision in a significantly lighter body. They feature fluorite lens elements, Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass and Nano Crystal Coat in their optical designs and come with integrated Vibration Reduction (VR). The VR system includes ‘NORMAL’ and ‘SPORT’ modes to suit different subject types.  Fluorine coatings are applied to the meniscus protective glass at the front of the lens for protection against dirt, water droplets and or grease.
