May 9, 2007: Fujifilm Australia has released three new user-friendly digicams that are targeted at first time digital camera buyers.
The FinePix A610 (RRP $189) combines a 6.3-megapixel Super CCD sensor with a 3x optical zoom lens and introduces a new icon-based Graphic User Interface (GUI) that provides fast, easy access to menu functions as well as a brief explanation of each function while navigating. This interface is used in all three models. A simple button layout makes key controls readily accessible and the camera has a large 2.5-inch LCD display with anti-glare properties. Fourteen selectable scene modes are provided.
A step up is the FinePix A820 (RRP $249), which boasts an 8.3-megapixel Super CCD sensor and a 4x optical zoom lens. It has the same GUI, 2.5-inch LCD and dual card compatibility as the A610 but includes Fujifilm’s Real Photo Processor and supports ISO settings up to 800. A convenient mode dial provides easy access to commonly used shooting modes such as Auto, Picture Stabilisation and Movie settings. It also allows one-touch access to the 17 pre-programmed scene modes (which include a Baby mode). Both the FinePix A820 and FinePix A900 (see below) are equipped with IrSimple Technology enables fast wireless image transfer to compatible devices such as compatible digital cameras, PDAs and Photo Kiosks.
