July 18, 2005: In September, Canon will release three new Pixma printers featuring the recently-announced ChromaLife 100 inks that can produce long-lasting photo prints with a wide colour gamut.
Featuring Canon’s FINE technology and an innovative print head with 1,472 nozzles, the iP1600 delivers 2 picolitre droplets with a resolution of up to 4800 x 1200 colour dpi and can print a 10 x 15 cm snapshot in approximately 70 seconds. High-intensity ChromaLife100 colour inks ensure vivid photos and graphics and a special pigment black ink delivers laser-like text – along with a higher resistance to smudging when you’re handling or highlighting a printed document.
This model uses the same four-colour ink set as the iP1600. Canon has tested the ChromaLife100 system against ozone, nitrogen oxide and sulphur oxide and claims prints on Canon Photo Paper Pro with the ChromaLife100 inks will resist fading for up to 100 years when stored in an archival quality photo album. They also have an up to ten-year gas fastness when exposed to open air or up to 30-year light fastness when displayed under glass.
