The latest version is a three year development cycle by a group of volunteers and enthusiasts who have made this the most professional release of the GIMP ever. The new version features improvements to the user interface that make it easier to use and includes key functions such as channels, layers and masks; colour operations such as levels, curves and threshold controls; advanced selection using intelligent scissors and selection channels; and much more.As free software, which means it can be freely distributed and modified, its capabilities are limited only by the collective imagination of the community of free software contributors.
