February 23, 2009: Tasmania 2, Bob Brown’s second photographic exhibition featuring Tasmania’s flora, fauna and wild places, opens in Hobart on Friday than moves to Bodalla on 15 March.
Containing 125 images taken by Bob Brown (leader of the Australian Greens), the exhibition aims to raise money for Bob’s Wielangta court costs, defending the Wielangta forest against logging that threatens a number of endangered species – including Swift Parrots. Swift Parrots breed in the Wielangta forests and young birds have been seen practising their flying during the past week. The blue gums at the top of the ridges are in full flower, four months after those at sea level bloomed.
The Tasmania 2 exhibition will be opened by Tony Smilbert at the Long Gallery in Salamanca Place, Hobart at 6 pm on Friday 27 February. It will run until 8 March. For more information, contact Paul Thomas 0419 839 157.
The exhibition will move to Bodalla in southern NSW, where it will be opened at 5 pm Saturday 15 March by Prue Acton at the Post Office Gallery Bodalla, Princes Highway Bodalla. The Bodalla exhibition will run from 14 March to 5 April. For more information, contact Valerie Faber 02 44 735 011.
