The Tamron SP AF200-500mm f5-6.3 Di LD [IF] (Model A08), which replaces the existing AF200-400mm f5.6 LD [IF] model features Di (Digitally Integrated Design) and includes a new detachable Filter Effect Controller (FEC), which makes it easy to adjust the supplied Polaroid (PL) filter even when the hood is attached. It also sports a removable tripod mount, making this a perfect lens for sports and wildlife photography. As well as an extended focal length range, the new lens has better resolution and contrast throughout the entire focal length range than the lens it replaces and axial colour aberrations have been minimised through the use of two LD elements. Contrast is optimised in the low frequency/low light range, leading to high-resolution pictures across the entire image plane.
The new SP AF200-500mm f5-6.3 Di LD [IF] lens is built from durable, lightweight engineering plastics with high dimensional stability and strength, which significantly reduces the overall weight of the lens. The new rubber pattern on the zoom and focus rings, featuring a smaller, more elaborate design, offers a more comfortable grip for better handheld use. The tripod mount is made of durable magnesium alloy and it’s detachable with the simple touch of a button. This makes the new lens easier to handle when using a tripod. The graphic display on the lens also features a more visible font.
The new Tamron SP AF200-500mm f5-6.3 Di LD [IF] lens is available now for Nikon cameras, with Canon and Minolta mounts available prior to Christmas. RRP is $1999. Details can be found at www.maxwell.com.au.
