Tamron has introduced its first two fixed focal length SP lenses: the SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD (Model F012) and SP 45mm f/1.8 Di VC USD (Model F013).

The new lenses feature a clean, elegant appearance and are the only standard lenses with VDC stabilisation. This enables them to provide superior performance in low-light environments, particularly for handheld shooting. The roll out announcement is set to be the first of several, with these first two lenses in the series being entirely compatible with full-frame DSLR cameras.
Optimal use of the latest glass materials, coupled with Tamron’s design technology, minimises aberrations of all types to achieve high resolving power. The f/1.8 aperture delivers more light to the viewfinder, making it brighter for easier focusing. More light also reches the sensor, allowing use even in very dim lighting conditions, while the bokeh (background blur) effect from the f/1.8 fast aperture delivers smooth and soft transitions from the main subject to the background.
Both lenses deliver superior MOD (Minimum Object Distance) to other 35mm or 45mm standard lenses. The window over the distance scale has been enlarged by 20% to feature a new font to enhance their legibility. Also redesigned are the lens hood and front and rear caps. The new lenses will be available with Canon and Nikon mounts when they are launched locally next month. The Sony mount lenses, which don’t include VC stabilisation, will be launched at a later date. Local pricing is expected to be between AU$999 and $1099. Details are available from www.tamron.com.au/.
