Tamron’s new 100-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD (Model A035) is due to go on sale in Australia in mid-November with an RRP of $1299.

Available in mounts for Canon and Nikon ‘full frame’ DSLR cameras, this lens weighs 1135 grams with the Canon mount or 1,115 grams with the Nikon mount, making it the lightest zoom lens in the ultra-telephoto category. The lens new features moisture-resistant construction plus a Fluorine-Coating on the front element to provide additional protection when shooting outdoors. Tamronʼs proprietary eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) coating suppresses internal reflections to ensure optimal image quality.
Built-in VC stabilisation makes it ideal for handheld shooting, while Tamronʼs Dual MPU high-speed control system includes an MPU (micro-processing unit) with a built-in DSP (Digital Signal Processor) for superior signal processing, plus a separate MPU dedicated exclusively to vibration compensation. Tamron claims a CIPA-based stabilisation performance level of four stops for this lens.The AF drive system also uses a USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) motor for fast, precise focusing.
An optional tripod mount (Model A035TM) is available with Arca-Swiss release compatibility at an RRP og AU$199. This lens is also compatible with the optional Teleconverter 1.4x as well as Tamron’s TAP-in Console. The lens will be available through leading photo specialist stores.
