January 17, 2005: Available in champagne, duck egg blue and white, Sony’s new DSC-T33 digicam is as small as a pack of playing cards and weighs only 125 grams.
The new model, which features a 3x Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar optical zoom lens and 5-megapixel CCD sensor, is expected to retail for $899. Many of the attractive features of the earlier DSC-T3 model have been retained, including the large 2.5-inch colour LCD screen and Magnifying Glass mode that allows images to be magnified up to 3.3 times. Clear Photo LCD technology makes the screen easy to view in a wide range of conditions, allowing shots to be composed precisely. No viewfinder is provided.
Designed to operate with auto focus and auto exposure, the T33 has scene settings to cover twilight, portrait, landscape, snow, beach, candlelight, high-speed shutter or even fireworks shots. The camera is powered by an ultra-thin rechargeable battery and comes with a USB docking cradle that recharges the battery, makes image transfer to a PC easy and allows users to play back shots on a TV screen.
