July 13, 2006: Sony will release two new digital photo printers this month with features to appeal to family snapshooters and photographers on the go.
The new DPPFP35 (RRP $189) and DPPFP55 (RRP $279) PictureStation models use dye sublimation technology, which can reproduce more than 16 million hues and tones. Both models are designed for snapshot printing and deliver borderless 15 x 10 cm prints. A final lamination process produces prints with a claimed lightfastness of up to 100 years, along with moisture and fingerprint resistance. Both models can be connected directly to a digital still camera for direct printing via USB cable.
The FP55 model has an on-board 2.0-inch LCD screen for viewing images plus slots for Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo and Secure Digital cards. It also comes with built-in editing facilities for rotating and cropping images and eliminating red eyes in flash shots. Users can also print multiple images on one sheet and create postcards, albums, calendars and displays using the printer’s controls. Details will be posted on the Sony website (www.sony.com.au) shortly. Phone 1300 720 071 for stockist information.
