December 15, 2010: Sony Europe has advised us of the introduction of three new categories of SDHC memory cards to meet the growing needs of today’s digital imaging users.

The new families of cares range from the affordable ESSENTIAL Series and value-added EXPERIENCE Series to the flagship EXPERT Series for photographers who require high capacities and high data transfer speeds. The ESSENTIAL Series (Class 4) SDHC cards will be offered in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB capacities and are designed for entry-level digital cameras and camcorders. EXPERIENCE Series SDHC cards support data transfer speeds up to 15MB/s (Class 4) and are available in 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities.

The EXPERT Series cards support transfer speeds up to 20MB/s (Class 10) and are available in 8GB, 16GB & 32GB capacities. They are designed for storing and sharing high-resolution video and still images from Full HD camcorders and DSLR cameras. Both the EXPERIENCE and EXPERT cards will be bundled with File Rescue HD software, which can now retrieve AVCHD movies recorded with any brand of camera/camcorder alongside JPEG, MPEG-1 and MP4 files.
Also available as a free software download for EXPERIENCE and EXPERT Series card owners, new x-Pict Story software, which enables users to combine photos and music with visual effects and transitions to create professional-looking presentations. Integration with Picture Motion Browser software by Sony makes it quick and easy to upload slideshows to social networking sites. The new cards are scheduled for release in Europe in January 2011.
