Other common features include a 3-inch 921,000-dot XtraFine LCD with wide viewing angle, built-in GPS receiver and compass and support for Intelligent Sweep Panorama HR mode (which captures 10480 x 4096 pixel, super-size scenes) plus 3D Sweep Panorama, 3D Still Image and Sweep Multi Angle modes.

Ideal for travellers and photo enthusiasts, the flagship Cyber-shot HX100V features a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar lens with T* coating on optical surfaces to minimise flare. This premium lens offers a 30x optical zoom range. The manual control ring can be assigned as desired to adjust focus or zoom. The smaller and lighter HX9V has a high-performance G Lens with 16x zoom range plus 24mm wide angle.

Both cameras offer fast autofocusing and can lock onto subjects in as little as 0.1 seconds. Shooting options are expanded by Background Defocus mode, which automatically combines two successive frames captured at different focus settings to produce an image with a sharply-focused foreground subject against a smoothly blurred background.
A new model, the Cyber-shot W520, has been added to the point-and-shoot range. Light and compact, the W520 features a 14.1 megapixel CCD sensor, 5x optical zoom lens with 25mm wide angle, a 2.7-inch Clear Photo LCD plus Sweep Panorama and Intelligent Auto shooting modes.
