January 18, 2007: Sony Corporation will add four new models to its Cyber-shot line-up in the first quarter of the year.
The slim, compact DSC-W55 and DSC-W35 models will sport 7.2-megapixel imagers and Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3x optical zoom lenses. They combine traditional, eye-level viewfinders with large LCD screens for easy framing and viewing of photos. The W55 camera is being produced in four colours: Caribbean blue, pale pink, elegant black and sleek silver. It sports a 2.5-inch LCD screen wrapped in a metal body. The W35 camera will be available only in silver with a two-inch screen. Sony’s Clear RAW noise reduction technology helps reduce picture noise common to low-light exposures and an AF illuminator improves focusing in low light conditions. Both models come with rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that claim to support up to 380 shots/charge.
The new DSC-S700 and DSC-S650 cameras will also feature 7.2-megapixel imagers and classic silver bodies.

The DSC-S700 has a 2.4-inch LCD plus metal body, while the DSC-S650 has a two-inch screen. Both models are fitted with 3x optical zoom lenses. Power is supplied by AA batteries, with Sony’s rechargeable AA cells supporting up to 460 shots/charge.
All four new models come with blur-reduction technologies (ISO-boosting to 1000 equivalent) and substantial internal memory for shooting without a media card. They also include function and resolution guides. Accessible through a mode dial, the resolution guide recommends the ideal print size for that particular setting.
