Sony has released details of its digital imaging products atrategy for the coming year at the PMA International Trade Show, which opened yesterday in Anaheim.

 

February 22, 2010: Sony has released details of its digital imaging products atrategy for the coming year at the PMA International Trade Show, which opened yesterday in Anaheim.
This year will see the introduction of a new interchangeable-lens compact camera, carrying the Alpha logo. Exhibited in early concept mock-up form at PMA, the camera features a newly-developed Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor. It will also support HD video recording using the efficient AVCHD format. Several lenses designed for the new camera body were also on display. Details of the new camera and lenses have not been released.

Sony has also confirmed its on-going commitment to the Alpha range of DSLR cameras, which will grow during the year with new mainstream DSLR models using the newly-developed Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor and integrating HD video function with AVCHD format. Details of these cameras are yet to be revealed. However, the company has announced the Distagon T* 24mm f/2 ZA SSM Carl Zeiss wide angle lens plus a new Super Telephoto 500mm f/4 G with class-leading optical performance. Both lenses were shown in pre-production format.
