May 17, 2007: The latest addition to Sony’s Walkman line-up, the NW-A800 series video MP3 player allows users to view video clips and photos as well as listen to music on the move.
Featuring a 2-inch TFT colour LCD screen with QVGA (320 x 240 pixel resolution) it offers unbeatable clarity, high contrast and excellent colour reproduction. When filled with music, TV clips, photos and videos, the A800 Walkman provides entertainment on the go. Video footage and still pictures can be viewed on the screen both horizontally (for left and right-handed users) and vertically. Downloading video content is easy, with a simple drag and drop mechanism. Video playback supports the widely used MPEG-4 and high quality codec of AVC Baseline profile formats, at up to 30 frames per second.
Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) technology restores the nuances and frequencies usually lost in music like MP3 files due to the compression process to provide high-quality audio playback. The A800 also includes the Clear Stereo and Clear Bass technologies that were featured in the S700 Walkman. These audio technologies are teamed with high-performance EX Monitor headphones.
The A800’s lithium-ion rechargeable battery allows up tor 30 hours of continuous music
playback or 8 hours of continuous video playback. An intuitive, mobile phone-style menu selection system provides fast navigation while on the move, enabling users to search by artist, album title or song title or use the intelligent shuffle to mix up playback sequences. Other features include JPEG image storage and creative slideshow playback as well as a host of music sound effects (heavy, pop, jazz, unique and custom settings) to choose from.
The A800 series is available in 2GB (RRP $299), 4GB (RRP $399) and 8GB (RRP $499) capacities and comes in four colour options: violet, black, white and pink. It is supplied with the latest version of SonicStage CP and Image Converter software.
