June 24, 2010: Sony’s DSLR-A390, which was announced on 10 June, is scheduled for release early next month.
Retailing as a single-lens kit for $799 or a twin-lens kit for $999, the new model offers an effective resolution of 14.2 megapixels and BIONZ image processor. SteadyShot Inside stabilisation is included in the camera body and Dual SD/Memory Stick Duo card slots give users a choice of recording media.

The new camera features a 6.7cm (2.7-inch) TFT Clear Photo LCD monitor with 230,400-dot resolution that supports Quick AF Live View with a live image preview on the tilt-angle screen with speedy, accurate phase-detection autofocus. Sony has also redesigned the camera body to provide an improved grip and some control buttons have been shifted to provide more comfortable handling.

New user-friendly on-screen Help Guide and Graphic Display functions make the DSLR-A390 ideal for novice users. The Help Guide offers concise explanations of camera functions, illustrated by a sample image. Quick access to shooting and playback menus is streamlined by coloured on-screen icons. The Graphic Display makes it easy to understand the relationship between shutter speed and aperture and shows the effects of a chosen exposure settings on the final picture.
