February 20, 2007: Sony is offering double the memory capacity in its Microvault USB storage device and Memory Stick PRO Duo media.
Previously both products had a top capacity of 4GB but this has been increased to 8GB to cater for the rapidly growing needs of digital photographers and portable entertainment device users. The 8GB Microvault is compact and easy to use. Simply plug it into a USB port and it will pop up on your desktop ready for use as a removable drive. No additional cables, floppy disks or CDs are required and the device comes pre-loaded with the Microvault Virtual Expander Software, which allows data to be compressed to create up to three times more storage space. Offering high data transfer rates, Microvaults are ideal for transferring files between computers and other devices. The 8GB Microvault has an RRP of $499.95.

Sony’s 8GB Memory Stick PRO Duo has been designed for use in Cyber-shot digicams, Handycam camcorders and PlayStation Portable (PSP) devices and can store a multitude of entertainment files. It will accommodate almost 3,000 digital photos from a 10-megapixel camera in Standard mode setting or up to 2,000 MP3 format songs. Up to 19 hours of MPEG-4 video recorded at 768 kbps can be held for playback on a PSP. The card is supplied with a Memory Stick Duo adaptor to suit any piece of compatible hardware.
Warranty support of five-years is provided with the PRO Duo media, with a ten-year warranty on Memory Stick PRO Duo High Speed products. Memory Stick File Rescue Software can be downloaded from Sony’s website without charge. The MSXM8GSX Memory Stick PRO Duo 8GB card carries an RRP of $599.95.
