Adobe and Apple have issued updates to their popular raw file conversion and image management applications.
Adobe’s Camera Raw 7.1 for Photoshop CS6 (but not previous versions) and Lightroom 4.1 add support for 28 new cameras. Lightroom 4.1 adds plus 24 lens profiles and also corrects a number of bugs identified in Lightroom 4 and adds the ability to process HDR TIFF files (16, 24 or 32-bit), more colour fringing corrections to address chromatic aberration, the ability to save photobooks created in the Book Module as JPEG files and a Publish plugin for publishing photos to Adobe Revel. Apple has also updated Aperture to version 3.2.4 to improve stability on Mac OS X v10.6.8 Snow Leopard and address an issue in which changes saved to a photo in an external editor were not visible in the Viewer until Aperture was reopened. Apple’s new Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 3.13 adds RAW image compatibility for the following cameras to Aperture 3 and iPhoto ’11: Canon EOS-1D X, Nikon D800E, Nikon D3200, Olympus OM-D E-M5, Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GF5, Sony Alpha SLT-A57.
