DxO Labs has announced the immediate availability of DxO Optics Pro v9.1 and DxO FilmPack v4.5 for Mac and Windows.

The latest version of DxO Optics Pro v9.1 features enhancements to the proprietary PRIME de-noising (Probabilistic Raw IMage Enhancement) technology aimed at improving textures and preserving detail, while also reducing noise in processed images particularly at high ISO settings. During analysis of each pixel in a raw image, nearly a thousand neighbouring pixels are studied to identify similarities and reconstruct information. This unusual de-noising produces better details and colour saturation (particularly in dark zones) and textures are preserved for a natural-looking rendering. the process claims a gain in image quality of up to one stop beyond the best noise reduction algorithms currently available on the market.

This upgrade is free for all owners of DxO Optics Pro 9, as well as for photographers who acquired a DxO Optics Pro license on or after September 1, 2013. A fully-functional trial version of DxO Optics Pro v9.1, good for one month, is available on the DxO Labs website (http://www.dxo.com/intl/photo/free_trial_version).

Available in two editions, Essential and Expert, DxO FilmPack v4.5 can be used under one license as both a standalone application for OS X and Windows, and as a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements, Adobe Lightroom, Apple Aperture, and DxO Optics Pro. The latest version adds two new films: the legendary Agfa Scala 200x, a now-discontinued black & white slide film, and Kodak Ektar 100, an ultra-vivid colour negative film with very fine grain.

Both the Essential and Expert editions of DxO FilmPack v4.5 for Mac and Windows are immediately available in the DxO Labs online store (shop.dxo.com) and at photo resellers at a special discount price through December 25, 2013. This upgrade is free for all owners of DxO FilmPack 4, as well as for photographers who acquired a DxO FilmPack 3 license on or after March 1, 2013. Trial downloads are available at http://www.dxo.com/intl/dxo-filmpack-press-lounge.
