X-Rite has released a software update for its ColorChecker Passport that fixes a bug associated with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.

June 29, 2010: X-Rite has released a software update for its ColorChecker Passport that fixes a bug associated with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.
ColorChecker Passport combines a 24-patch ColorChecker target, neutral gray target and ‘Creative Enhancement’ target with camera calibration software and packages them a small protective ‘passport’ sized case. It’s designed to integrate with any raw workflow. The release note indicates the following fixes:
– Now fully compatible with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3;
– Improved color extraction for better profile accuracy;
– Improved patch detection (eliminates errors in cases where the luminance of light-colored patches meets or exceeds the luminance of the white patch).
Users who wish to install the update should launch the ColorChecker Passport software. A dialogue box will appear indicating that the new v 1.0.2 is available and asking you to authorize the download. The illustration below shows the on-screen display.

You will need to be in the software package not the Lightroom plug-in to accomplish this update. (In the event you don’t get this automatic prompt for whatever reason simply choose “Help” and “Check for Updates…” from the top menu choices).
Download, install and relaunch either ColorChecker Passport software or Lightroom. The new software is also available from www.xritephoto.com/ph_product_overview.aspx?action=support&id=1257.
