The Sekonic Speedmaster L-858D light meter, which was showcased at Photokina in September, is due to go on sale in Australia in mid to late January 2017.

Developed from the popular L”478D series, the new SpeedmasterL-858D features

 flash duration measurement for the first time in a multi-function light meter and

 offers selectable flash duration measurements from t=0.1 to 0.9. It can even measure the brief stroboscopic bursts of HSS (High Speed Sync)flash when shooting with

multiple HSS flash units for precise exposure control. A 2.7-inch colour dot matrix touch screen is provided for easy operation and optional wireless triggering modules now available for Elinchrom, Phottix in addition to PocketWizard brand radio triggering devices.

The L-858D also covers increased functionality for evaluating ISO sensitivity, flash and ambient shutter speeds, as well as frame rates (f/s) and shutter angles for cinematographers. Sekonic’s Data Transfer Software allows quick dynamic range mapping and camera/meter calibration for precise control of light. Users can create and store up to ten camera exposure profiles with Sekonic, X-Rite or Datacolor brand calibration targets.
